I remember growing up in the 1980's. Even though we were poor, we had all that we wanted. Money was abundant and food was cheap.
The nineties were just as carefree, but in that decade I became a man. However, I still had no interest in politics. I still could care less what was going on outside of my little world. My friends and the parties that would come every weekend were the focus of my days. The drugs flowed by and the world escaped us.
How did we get here? We ignored our problems into existence. I truly believe that. While the American public watched football and worried about weekend parties, our government tightened its noose around us. They lied to get elected. They played both sides of the fence. They stripped our country of jobs, wealth and intelligence.
Then they allowed a travesty to happen on Sept 11, 2001. Nearly overnight America went from the defender of freedom across the world to its global oppressor. It is only now, 15 years later, that a majority of people are even aware of the crimes and the lies these politicians brought to us.
How do we change this? How do we prevent it in the future? How do we stress the importance of just being aware of what our leaders are doing to our youth?
